Have you guys ever been a tourist in your own town?
Well for fall break I had the chance to do just that by bringing my friend back home with me. So heres how you bring in the fall weather here in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Bring all your favorite sweaters and head on up to Snowbowl to get some great pictures with some aspens or adventure onto one of the many side roads of the mountain, I suggest to take state route 151, a little past the Snowbowl turnoff. Our historic downtown is filled with many cute boutiques where you can find the perfect outfit, eat food, or grab some great coffee. Its also the top location for all our local breweries. Some of my favorite stores are the Basement, P.J. Cottage, Rainbows End and Shoes and Such, but all the shops sell unique items and I guaranty that you can spend a lot of time looking around. If you're an avid coffee drinker, make sure to check out Macy's coffee house to pick up a good cup of Joe.
Flagstaff is known for it's great hiking trails here are some of my favorite!
- Lava Caves
- Inner Basin Trail
- Humphrey's Peak
- Buffalo Park
As my family and friends all know I love watching the sunrise, or sunset if you're not a morning person. Lake Mary, Inner Basin, or Lowell's Observatory are my favorite spots to park and drink my Chai Latte to watch the sunrise. Since Flagstaff is an International Dark Sky City, it is easy for everyone to admire the stars, but if you take a drive out to Lake Mary you can see them shine brighter than ever before.
While you're here, there are other activities you can do that can make your trip worth while. I recommend going to see the Grand Canyon sun rise, it is one of the most memorable experiences I've had. It is quiet and peaceful and you'll never see a more colorful sky, also not many people will be there, so you can get your perfect shot. Another town that is just as beautiful is Sedona, Arizona which is known for its vibrant red rocks. Some of their popular trails are Devils Bridge, Cathedral Rock and West Fork Trail.
I hope you find your own adventures while touristing your own hometown and let me know what your favorite activity is in Flagstaff.
Happy Adventuring!
Kelsey
